Stafford residents Markus Collins, 33, and Jayden Jones, 19, were charged with attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding by mob, and weapons offenses in the Nov. 28, 2022 incident, Stafford County Sheriff David Decatur said.

An investigation unfolded following the 4 p.m. incident on Elkton Drive in the England Run North Apartments, where two people had been shot. A sheriff's deputy found a red sedan tied to the incident on Enon Road.

The driver refused to stop for police and instead, increased his speed and initiated a pursuit. The pursuit ended near Potomac Creek when the deputy conducted a rolling road block. Inside the vehicle were two victims suffering gunshot wounds. The driver was later charged with felony eluding.

Much remained unknown about the shooting, however.

"Despite the limited information, detectives have been working nonstop on this investigation," Decatur said.

Police later learned shooting followed an arranged fight, and Collins and Jones were subsequently identified as the gunmen, the sheriff said.

As a result, a grand jury hearing was held leading to the issuance of direct indictments. Both Collins and Jones were taken into custody without incident on Monday, Aug. 14.
